YouTube will unveil a number of custom branded commercial channels tomorrow in its latest move to monetize the site. The bizarre cultural icon Paris Hilton is already highlighted on the front page of the site with her own YouTube channel, to correspond with the release of her debut musical album on Tuesday.Fox has paid an undisclosed sum to advertise its TV show Prison Break on the YouTube channel of Hilton, whose album is produced by Warner Brothers.
YouTube reportedly pays more than $1 million each month in bandwidth costs and some people have been concerned that it would be a challenge to turn its huge traffic into money. Thus Paris Hilton to the rescue.

Sweden’s state broadcaster SVT on Monday faced ridicule for mistakenly showing a porn movie in the background of a news broadcast over the weekend.
The monitor, one of many on the wall of a control room visible behind the studio, normally shows other news channels during broadcasts. But staffers who earlier in the evening had watched a sports event on cable channel Canal Plus, which often shows X-rated films after midnight _ had forgotten to switch it back, said news director Per Yng.

スェーデンのTV局でニュース放送のバックにポルノが流れちゃったんだって。スタジオの後方のコントロール･ルームの壁に埋め込まれている沢山のモニタは、通常、他のニュース･チャンネルを映しているんだけど、たまたまスタッフの一人が放送前にスポーツ･チャンネルを見ていて、運の悪いことにそのチャンネルは試合終了後にポルノを時々流すことにしているチャンネルで….そのチャンネルを変えるのを忘れたまま放送に入ってしまったと。

視聴者からのクレームは全くなかった代わりに他のメディアは凄い関心を示したとあるけど、ホントかね。北欧だからこんなことには鷹揚だったのかな?

The phone shown is called the Oynx from Pilotfish and Synaptics. It has no buttons and is controlled entirely by signs and gestures. The idea is cool in theory, but I can imagine many circumstances in which it’d be difficult to manage. It is, however, capable of recognizing specific body parts (yea, yea), so it can be trained to answer a call when you raise the phone to your head.
