At least a few venture capitalists don’t enjoy having their flaws exposed on the site. One VC, Howard Hartenbaum, became incensed after comments said he was “rude, arrogant, slow and vomit-inducing”. Matt Marshall wrote about the incident and said TheFunded was “turning out to be a useless site.”

20th Century Fox has announced that it will be filming a sequel to 1987 cult classic Wall Street.
……まじぃ!?なんで今頃??
It’s sad they didn’t make the sequel in the late 90s. Gordon Gekko would have made a killing in Web 1.0 stocks. Fast forward a decade and the age of the IPO and inflated share price has passed, replaced in favor of the corporate buyout.

この時代で映画を作るならMary Meekerを主役にして、えー加減なビジネス・モデルで浮かれていた企業を片っ端から笑いものにするのがいいだろ。オチは勿論集団訴訟。題名は勿論Dot.conから採って「Queen Of The Net」で決まりだなwww

はぁ～……。まぁそんなところくらいかね、彼を持って行く場所は。詰まらなそうな映画だなぁ。つーか、Budはどうなってんのよ、Budは? Gekkoが出所するくらいならとっくに娑婆に出てる筈だろ。

「working in the hedge fund business」と「working on a global scale in the hedge-fund era」では、微妙に違うような。Oliver Stoneは監督しないのか。しないだろうなw Budも出てこないと。仕方ないから代わりにホリエモンでも出せやw つーか、日本人はリアルでこの映画を見ていたようなものか。「Greed is good」は「金でついてこない女はいないですよ」に相当する……いや大分安っぽいな、こりゃwww

「Dot.conから採って」などと書いてしまったが、正確には「Queen Of The Net」という名称はBarron’s Magazineが付けた。勿論、Dot.conが彼女に一章を割いているわけだが。

ところが討論が開始されると、ヒラリーやオバマは共和党議員よりもはるかに退屈な保守派であることが露呈してしまったのである。一方でこの日最も会場を沸かせたのは、知名度ゼロのために討論会に招かれるかどうかも定かでなかったマイク･グラベルだったのだ。
うわあ、そんな面白い爺さんがいたのかぁ。あっという間にObamaが霞んでしまった。討論会のビデオは退屈そうだったのでちらっと見ただけでスルーしてしまっていたのだが失敗したなぁ。
暗いニュースリンクさんのエントリに載っているYouTubeのビデオは記事の最後に位置しているので、必然的に訳されたテキストを読んだ後に観賞することとなったのだが、文字で読んだときとはやや印象が異なった。その怒りっぷりは煩型の爺さんが床屋談義に熱中しているみたいで、取り澄ました他の候補者連中比べるとやや見劣りがするが、そのストレートさは貴重。それは恐らく、バックが大きくなると利害関係が複雑になったり利権が絡んだりと、なかなか率直な物言いが出来なくなってくるものであるのに対して、記事でも触れられている資金量から想像するに、この爺さんの場合にはそのような柵が少ないからであろう。
この記事を読んでから慌ててググってみると、Washingtonpostが彼をHoward Bealeに例えていた。Howard Beale って誰? だったのだが、親切にもYouTubeへのリンクが貼られている。Peter Finchの名演をこの爺さんに重ね合わせると、いっそう感動的である。
一方、討論会を主催したMSNBCはランキングから彼を外している。ケツの穴が小さいね。スポンサーはBoeingでつかそうでつか。
(We’re not ranking Mike Gravel… This guy’s not just a third-tier longshot, he might be a little, um, off. Seriously, he was downright rude. Why should anyone agree to appear on stage with him? And why should any mainstream Democratic group invite him?)
