Terrace Field 木曜日, 5月 31 2007

This may look like a paint-by-number kit, but it’s a photograph. Jialiang Gao shot this picture of a terraced planting area in Yunnan province, China.

Best Mario Cake Ever 水曜日, 5月 30 2007

Created by university student, Su Yin, this has got to be the best Mario cake ever. This was made for her friend Amanda’s housemate who was an avid fan of console games. It all started when he said to Amanda that ‘Su Yin could do better than that’ after someone posted a Super Mario wedding cake on the forums and so this is the final masterpiece from Su Yin for his birthday cake.

Eleven Year Old Boy Kills Gigantic Wild Hog 火曜日, 5月 29 2007

Boy vs Hogzilla 2 – Alabama, 11 year old boy used a pistol to kill the gigantic wild hog as shown in the above photo. Since the news came from Associated Press Writer Kate Brumback, it should be pretty authentic except that the photo taken above was exaggerated. The boy is not resting his arms on the hog as depicted but instead kneels at a further distance away making the hog much bigger than it seems. However it still is one big animal. The huge animal was shot eight times with a .50 caliber revolver and chased for three hours through hilly woods before it was finished off with a point-blank shot.

Linux Ads. 金曜日, 5月 18 2007

And it just ain’t working. I’m told this is Ron Hovsepian’s admin who got forced into doing some guerrilla marketing at the WinHEC conference yesterday. Idea was to lure away Microsoft business partners and woo them to Linux. Didn’t work.

This reminds me of the childhood Nightingale story by Hans Christian Andersen where the emperor banishes the nightingale in preference of a jeweled mechanical imitation. Amazing mechanical sculptures by Joe Pagan where he used his unique combination of welding expertise and artistic talent to create these amazing variety.

China to build super building in shape of Walking Man 木曜日, 4月 5 2007

We have seen some really wild houses come out of Asia but this one is just plain amazing. Although not yet built it has the makings to be one of the greatest buildings of all time.

Teahupoo 水曜日, 4月 4 2007

This isn’t your father’s perfect wave, and unless seeing your next birthday doesn’t rank on your list of priorities, it isn’t yours either. Tahiti’s Teahupoo (pronounced cho-pu) is essentially a glorified closeout — a hideous, deadly barrel promising a heap of trouble for even the most capable of surfers.

Famous People as Fruits! 水曜日, 4月 4 2007

Famous Pairs by Jeannie Sprecher and Kim O’Brien is a delightful book featuring famous people as fruits!
You’ll see Bonnie and Clyde riddled with bullet holes, Anna Nicole Smith and J. Howard Marshall III, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield and Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky … all cleverly depicted by pears!

All (known) Bodies in the Solar System 水曜日, 4月 4 2007

It’s just one of those things I’ve been itching to make for a long while, frankly because I wanted to see it – a visual listing of objects in the Solar System, ordered by size. A couple weeks ago, I started tinkering with it, today, I have something to show finally: A (large) image showing the 88 known objects in our Solar System that are larger than 200 miles in diameter.
